DESIGN DOCS
This is what Prism City is all about.

Design docs!!! These are not part of the "public wiki," but the public wiki is almost basically just design docs anyway.

Overview & Pitch

Prism City is a Minecraft server that wants to invoke feelings of a whimsical world in the player, while they collect items and interact with other players.
In terms of the story and world, players come from the Obsidian Republic, and are trying to find a new home for themself in the city.
They can interact with a variety of NPCs and build up a variety of skills, while collecting items and crafting furniture.
Your goal is to make a home for yourself that's better than the republic you came from. To make Prism City your "true home."
This idea of "escaping a rigid society" is born from my feeling that most Minecraft servers are too rigid and poorly playtested, not caring about the players having fun.

Material gathering

You can also increase your item collections and get jobs on the side.
The average player is expected to be a "generalist" who collects many resources and level-6s a lot of collections.
This collections feature WILL be grindy like other servers,
but the progression won't be stopped by weird progress-gating like "Professions" (similar to classes in other games)
or needing tons of money to start a business.

Every player can try out each activity on the server, and that means everyone has an equal opportunity to find the elements that they like the most.

Social

Basically, this is a low-barrier-to-entry game that works while you're on your own, but is enhanced by playing with others. If you can't play it on your own, this server would be useless. It HAS to be playable without others online, at least for now.
Due to its nature of a roleplay server, players will be forced into situations where they must interact (for example: to share resources).
They get to make their own decisions on how they handle the situation.
For example: The small low-down trees have ran out of wood, because another player has cut them all down.
Do you climb up to the next level of trees? Do you attack the player who cut them? Do you just wait it out?
In Prism City, you will be encouraged to make these kinds of decisions all the time.

Progression

Players will also start with a full set of stone tools.
Players will automatically have their gear set to be unbreakable, unlike vanilla Minecraft.
Instead, the main reason to gather resources is to construct new buildings, make new furniture, or make new tools.
Some daily quests may require you to hand in resources at a station in the town hall.
You won't have to re-craft the old tools like in vanilla Minecraft. You get your tools once. That's it.

Target Audience

The target audience of Prism City is eccentric people who don't fit in on other Minecraft servers. Who want to put their efforts towards one thing.
Some Animal Crossing enjoyers may like this, but Prism City is like, if Animal Crossing was an MMORPG and more chaotic. More like Wild World and GCN, so more intense.

Aesthetic

Prism City has a colourful aesthetic, but it uses a lot of brown wooden textures and vines for its UI. That makes the UI feel cosy, while the rest of the server is relatively modern.

Music

Prism City's music is very similar to Animal Crossing's, except rendered in Minecraft note blocks. It backs up the player's environments with non-intrusive music that helps them focus and calm down.
