Because it feels familiar, because it feels comfortable,
that means I must've stolen it from someone who did it before
An unknown genius before me has already taken my unborn glories
As I search through the universe for new ways to express these common human insecurities

But someone else has always done it better some X amount of years ago
As I try to trap transient feelings within written letters on a page
As if a futile attempt like this would mean anything to anyone
Yet still, I write pathetic songs because there's no-one else who could do it quite like me

Although it's just a farce, I'll pretend I'm in control
Of this world, of my life, and of this song I'm writing now
Although you'll disappear, I'll pretend you'll stay for good
Even though in the back of my mind I know we all one day die
