Today I tried to learn about 以上 and て.
Here is an example sentence I constructed:

部屋に入って、十匹以上の猫を見た

Upon entering the room (て form of 入る),
10 or more (以上 is a suffix meaning "or more") cats were seen.
匹 is the counter for smaller-than-a-human animals.

I also wrote this:

ちかちゃんを許して、嬉しかった。

What I meant by this was, "Chika was forgiven, so she was happy." However, I was talking to someone (they're N2) and they were saying that the て form of words implies two things happened at the same time. Or at least, that's how I understood it. So in that situation, they suggested to write this:

ちかちゃんを許したので、嬉しそうだった

From Chika being forgiven, she seemed happy.

It's also important to note here that they used 嬉しそうだった, meaning "seemed happy." That's what "そう" means.

The の after 許した turns it into a noun, so it can be affected by で.
