Some guy #18375: *insert something stupid here*
Cool dude #23980: Yo, some guy is kinda stupid.
Literally everyone: COOL DUDE = BASED!!! MY KING!!! Literally idk why Someguy #18375 is acting like this... Can't believe people are still so backwards. Remember when the (see 🧵)

To elaborate:
In the example above, I don't necessarily think "cooldude23980" is wrong for what they're saying, really. In fact, I usually entirely agree with these peoples' opinions. However, it's tiring to see this kind of "debate" all the time.
Sometimes you'll find someone in the replies of that "cool dude" debunking them. And it turns into a multi-layered debate of 100-character roasts of strangers online that we refuse to see as actual human beings.
My point is, even if what they're saying is correct, responding is just a big old waste of time that farms engagement.
It's a waste of energy, and we're just feeding the platform owners more money, off of our anger which is artificially manufactured by their poorly-designed website.
As a society, we shouldn't need "cool dudes" to point out how "some guy" said something wrong. We should, generally, be able to think for ourselves without needing someone to always represent our most primal reaction to some ragebait.
This goes for basically all social media - for example, in the YouTube comments, which I used to check a lot to see if people disagreed or had anything interesting to say.
90% of the time: It was a complete waste of time & emotions, as sometimes I just spent a while watching people argue over something that I did not need to see.
Which is why I am quitting watching YouTube. And never went on Twitter in the first place.
