SCHOOL AIN'T KOOL
"Don't drop out": and other lies they tell you /hj

Guys. Stop freaking out about school. Please DM me on Discord if I'm wrong, but...
LITERALLY NOTHING BAD WILL HAPPEN IF YOU FAIL YOUR CLASSES.
I have said this to school-going friends. And they say, "well then I'll get a bad grade. I won't pass an exam." And I simply answered this question: "Literally why does that matter tho"
AND THEY CAN'T ANSWER! Okay okay okay okay okay okay wait
People be acting like "if I fail my exams I will never get a job." Is that FR? I'm pretty sure it's not. I'm pretty sure it's a scam the stationary companies tell us to get us to buy more printer paper for the English GCSE Exam.
HOWEVER> There is one exception, that being if you genuinely want to go to uni for fun, or something else like that. For me, I want to go to British College and it looks like the only way into higher-level courses is via GCSEs, so I have to do them, BUT my counsellor said you can actually go onto lower levels for free. The only thing that stopped me from doing that was my mum saying "but they'll be bad tho," and tbh, I trust my counsellor's advice more than my mother, so Ha Ha Ha No. (sorry mother if you are r eading this
No but seriously. I see like thousands of people on the internet crying about their school being bad. ANd my question is:
THEN WHY ARE YOU STILL GOING TO IT. JESUS THIS IS SO INFURIATING (sorry jesus for shouting at you, you dont deserve this #holy #verychristian)
It's like... "school is good" has been drilled into peoples' heads from birth.
"Home-school kids bad," too.
I have to bear the brunt of this too. Because a few people I know use it as some way to say I'm "socially incompetent."
So you'd rather be midly brainwased and depressed (well, in my case MORE depressed) than... Only talk to people you actually trust/like spending time with?
Generally bad arguments based on people's fears around "unemployed weirdos" and stuff they were told as a kid. Even smart(er) people fall victim to this, because a lot of people seem to think university somehow makes you intelligent. It doesn't. It just tells you facts. Those facts may happen to come in clutch later, or they may not.
Here's an example.
Do you ever hear famous writers go, "ah yes, I learned so much from uni. I use all that experience in my writing all my time. It's got some really emotional bits"
NO. You hear them say "I write about the trauma of war and watching my friends die infront o my eyes over and over again.
BECAUSE NOBODY CARES ABOUT UNIVERSITY BRO!!!!!! ITS POINTLESS FOR THE VAST MAJORITY OF PEOPLE UNLESS YOURE GOING INTO SOMETHING REALLY TECHNICAL (like probably banking, law, medical stuff)
Let's put the rant to a side.
It genuinely makes me sad. It makes me sad that peolpe are wasting their money and getting depressed that the "world sucks" when the REAL reason they think the world sucks is because they have a slim view of it.
They have a slim view that only this very specific route is all you can do, even when it literally isn't.
People say all the other routes are risky, self-employment is hard, art careers are fragile, even when uhh........... You can just do another career if that one doesn't work out after 5 years? And then go back to it 10 years after that?? It's utterly bizzare. humans have rather long lives. Long enough lives to not have to worry about rotting away.
And yeah, I genuinely worried about all that about... 1 month ago. Until I realised it was kinda stupid and there's more important things to live for than just worrying about the future being bad even when I haven't even experienced it yet. All this depression-posting that we're going to work horrible lives with no fun all controller by corporations, loneliness, ruined by social media, and then die at 80. It's dumb. This isn't anything for someone below their 40s to even start worrying about. After all, I'm at least 10 years too young to start worrying about that any time soon.
